FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about CHAMP, donating, and getting involved.

What is CHAMP?

CHAMP (Creating Hope and Making Progress) is a student-led philanthropy movement that unites schools and communities across Huntingdon County to support kids and families facing cancer and other serious illnesses. Since 2015, we've raised over $979,000 and supported more than 120 families.

How are donations used?

Every dollar stays in Huntingdon County. Donations go directly to families to help cover medical expenses, travel costs for hospital visits, groceries, utilities, and other daily needs that arise during treatment. We focus on immediate, tangible support that makes a real difference.

How can I donate?

You can donate through Venmo (@champhco), PayPal ([email protected]), or by mailing a check payable to CHAMP/Planet LoveJoy. Visit our donate page for complete details and mailing address.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes! CHAMP operates under Planet LoveJoy, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and you will receive a receipt for your records.

How can I volunteer?

We welcome volunteers of all ages! You can help with fundraising events, the annual dance marathon, community outreach, and more. Contact us through our contact page to learn about current volunteer opportunities.

How can my school get involved?

Schools can participate by forming a CHAMP team, selecting student captains, organizing fundraising events, and joining the annual dance marathon. Reach out to us through our contact page to discuss partnership opportunities.

Who do you support?

We support children and families in Huntingdon County who are facing cancer and other serious, life-altering illnesses. Each year, student captains and advisors work together to identify and support families who need help the most.

What is the dance marathon?

The CHAMP Dance Marathon is our signature annual event where students from all six participating schools come together to celebrate the families we support, reveal the year's fundraising total, and dance to show that no one fights alone. It's the culmination of months of student-led fundraising.

How do I nominate a family for support?

If you know a family in Huntingdon County who is facing a serious illness and could benefit from CHAMP support, please contact us through our contact page. Our team reviews nominations and works to support families throughout the year.
